CSF collection

Under a Liquorentnahme (in clinical jargon often misdiagnosed as lumbar puncture called) is the puncture of the CSF spaces and removal of nerve fluid ( CSF ) for examination purposes. After the anatomical access route, the most common form of CSF extraction is the lumbar puncture , in which it is extracted from the lower spinal canal. Less common are the suboccipital puncture (also called cistern puncture: puncture of the cerebellomedullary cistern ) and the ventricular puncture (puncture of the cerebral ventricle ).
