List of governors of Montreal
The governor of Montreal ruled the city of Montreal in the 17th and 18th centuries. Before the creation of the Sovereign Council, the government of New France , in 1663, the governor was installed by the Société Notre-Dame de Montréal . The governor had both civil and military functions.
