from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

List of the mayors of the market and municipality of Rohrbach in Upper Austria since 1788 and of the municipality of Rohrbach-Berg since May 1, 2015. In addition, the well-known market judges since 1307, who were at the head of the local government until 1788, are listed.

Market judge von Rohrbach

The first market judge is mentioned in a document in 1307. The market judge was at the head of local government and the judiciary and was thus a forerunner of the later mayors . He was elected every two years, later annually by the citizenship, and was the liaison between the citizenship and the government. The market judge was assisted by an eight or twelve-person council and a committee of the citizens. The list of market judges in Rohrbach has only been almost completely preserved since 1630; older documents either disappeared or fell victim to the fire (market fire).
