Literary Review is a British literary magazine with a circulation of 44,750 copies.

concept

Literary Review was founded in 1979 by Anne Smith, then director of the English department at the University of Edinburgh . In 1982 the publishing house was relocated to London. In the 1980s, writer, journalist, and publisher Naim Attalah became the owner of the magazine and appointed Auberon Waugh as editor-in-chief. Since November 1999 this post has been filled by Nancy Sladek, a longtime writer of the magazine.

The magazine tries to address people interested in literature and largely dispenses with technical language. It mainly contains reviews by other authors, but also by literary critics.

Since 1993, the magazine has presented the Bad Sex in Fiction Award annually for the worst sex stories in a novel.
