Darmstadt Literature House
The Literaturhaus Darmstadt is a cultural institution with a predominantly literary focus of the city of Darmstadt in the John F. Kennedy House .

In 1995 the City of Darmstadt's magistrate decided to create a house dedicated to literature with the help of sponsors. The John F. Kennedy House, built between 1951 and 1953, offered itself as a place for this, not only because it was available, but also because it stood for a tradition of freedom. In the spring of 2010, organizational changes were made that support the special profile of the house. In addition to readings, there are also writing workshops for young writers as well as lectures, exhibitions and concerts in the program.
The literary events in the Literaturhaus are an important part of the city's literary promotion and mediation. In addition, the areas of music, art, philosophy and photography expand the cultural spectrum of the Literaturhaus.

In 2019, the five-story building will house twenty-one cultural institutions with a predominantly literary focus. The city's main program with its readings is supplemented by independent programs from the local literary and cultural associations and institutions.
