Liutold (Mondsee)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Liutold was a monk of the Mondsee Benedictine monastery from the middle of the 12th century. He is known as the writer of codices , such as the Liutold Gospels (around 1160/1170), the Liutold Passionale (around 1140/1160) and the Apocalypse Commentary by Rupert von Deutz (around 1150/1075).

He is possibly the author of a poem “De constructione vel destructione claustri in Maensê” (About the construction and destruction of the Mondsee Monastery). Whether he wrote a poem about Abbot Konrad is a matter of dispute.
