Eulogy is a generic term for various rhetorical forms of praise and praise:

  • Eloge , French form of courtly tribute poetry
  • Enkomion , antique price poem, later also in prose
  • Epinikion , form of the ancient enkomion aimed at a winner in competition
  • Laudation , generally an eulogy in antiquity, today a specific form of appreciation at award ceremonies
  • Praise poem , price poem or praise, the modern, above all courtly equivalent of the ancient enkomion
  • Preislied , in Germanic poetry, a single song that glorifies the achievements of someone present or the recently deceased
