LocoNet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The LocoNet is a bus system similar to the Ethernet , which was developed by the Digitrax company for digital model railway systems. Physically, a six-core flat cable with RJ-12 plugs is used, with which any topology (bus, star, tree, just not ring) can be set up without terminators . Two of the four inner wires are connected and form the actual LocoNet, which is used for data transmission between input devices, control and feedback modules and the control center (Peer_Net). The two outer wires carry the signal for the tracks to the boosters (Railsync_Net). Since LocoNet is an open standard, numerous manufacturers can offer components for connection to this bus system.
