Loebbecke painter
The Loebbecke painter is an Apulian vase painter from the third quarter of the 4th century BC. Chr. Designated.
The Loebbecke painter got his emergency name from a vase from the Löbbecke collection . The artist from the Darius underworld workshop , whose namesake artists are to be added a little later, is very reminiscent of the painter from Copenhagen 4223 and the Gioia del Colle painter . What they all have in common is the primary design of Naïskos vases . Here the Loebbecke painter achieved a very high artistic level, although he did not quite match the skill of his two colleagues. He mostly decorated large-format vases like volute craters . The Loebbecke Group , of which he is the main representative, is named after him.
