Logistics center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A logistics center is an amalgamation of several companies that jointly organize and carry out the procurement of purchased goods and the distribution of their own products with the company's own vehicles at the logistics center. In the broadest sense, it is a company according to the German Civil Code , the company's goal here is only the sale of goods.

Construction of the logistics center

Specialized employees of the individual divisions produce the necessary shipping documents in order to be able to bring goods to customers at home or abroad via forwarding agents or your own vehicle fleet. You have to prepare several prescribed papers, which you hand over to your own or third-party carrier together with the appropriately insured goods. The employees of the logistics center also have to ensure proper loading and securing. Only after correct loading does liability pass to the carrier (i.e. the forwarding agent).

Demarcation from the warehouse

While in a warehouse the goods are usually handed over to the self-collectors and a warehouse can only allocate the goods within a company / company, a logistics center in delivery mode sometimes works across borders. In a logistics center, the goods are only handled and not stored there.

In addition, goods are picked by order in the warehouse, in contrast to the logistics center where this takes place in several stages.
