from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Logum Edé is an Orixá (a god) of the Brazilian Candomblé .

He is revered as the son of Oxum Yéyé Ipondá and Oxóssi Odé Erinlé Ibò and is considered to be a mixture of both, of water and earth, of beauty and struggle. His followers consider him one of the most beautiful and very seductive Orixá. In the Candomblé faith, he lives half of the year with his mother Oxum in the river and the other half of the year with his father Oxóssi in the woods because his parents have separated. Thus, he is considered to be the protector of fishermen and hunters alike.

He never marries, his dearest companion is Euá , who is also lonely and lives in two worlds .

He is greeted with Logun ô akofá !

Legends

The legend Logum Edé is saved from the waters / Logum Edé é salvo das águas describes him as the “prince of charm and magic”. Logun Edé is the only Orixá of whom there are no qualities, therefore there can only be one initiate in a Candomblé house (a temple of Candomblé).

symbol

The attributes of Logum Edé are a scales, an Ofá (bow and arrow) like his father Oxóssi , an Abebé (a mirror) like his mother Oxum and seahorses. As a hunter, he received his Ofá (along with secret magic formulas) from the Iá Mi Oxorongá, the witches.

His consecrated day is Thursday.

Appearance

His devoted to him, the so-called daughters and sons (Brazilian: filhas-e filhos-de-santo ), are two-faced and always appear young.

“His duality is shown at the level of behavior, so that in certain situations he shows himself as sweet and benevolent like Oxum and in others serious and lonely like Oxóssi. Logum Edé is an Orixá of contradictions; in it the opposites complement each other; he is a god of surprise and the unexpected. "

They are lonely, narcissistic and proud - they claim to be the keepers of the truth and the most beautiful of them all.
