Ochosi (Òsóòsì; Oxóssi) is in the religion of the Yoruba and in the Afro-American religions derived from it, the archaic hunter with bow and arrow, the orisha of the hunt. He hunts with a bow and arrow and always hits the mark. He is a loner on the hunt, but contributes to the community with his prey. He is alive, agile, smart, humble, and sincere.
In a figurative sense, Ochosi stands for purposefulness, determination and concentration, which gives people the perseverance in pursuing their ideas and projects. Ochosi is also the orisha of captivity and prisons. Along with Eshu and Ogún, he is one of the Orishas who are received in the initiation of the guerreros .
In Candomblé , Brazil , Oxóssi is syncretistically connected to St. Georg (in Bahia ) and St. Sebastian (in central / south / southeast Brazil ). His greeting is Okê Arô, his color green or blue, his sign bow and arrow (Ofá) and his day Thursday.
