Nieuport Ni.161

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nieuport Ni.161 was a French fighter aircraft from the 1930s .

development

In 1934 the French Ministry of Aviation wrote out a specification for a modern fighter. Then the Bloch MB.150 , the Dewoitine D.513 , the Loire 250 , the Morane-Saulnier MS.405 and the Nieuport 161 were developed.

With the Loire-Nieuport 161, which took off for the first time in 1935, a single -seater fighter was created which, with a Hispano-Suiza 12-cylinder V-engine, corresponded to the trend towards the modern low-wing fighter at the time.

After the test flights, however, it was decided in favor of the design by Morane-Saulnier and so there were only three prototypes of the Nieuport Ni.161 built.
