Lola T53

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lola T53 was a Formula 3 racing car built by Lola Cars in 1964 .

The Lola T53 was Eric Broadley's first racing car to be given the type designation "T". The T53 was also the first Formula 3 racing car Lola built. The car was based on the Mk5 , the Lola Formula Junior car from 1962.

The vehicle was used by Midland Racing Partnership as a semi-works team in the British Formula 3 championship . The T53 had no chance against the works cars from Cooper and Brabham and Jackie Stewart won the championship for Ken Tyrrell at the end of the year . When it became clear that the T53 was a bad design, Lola turned away from Formula 3 and looked for new markets for his racing cars.
