Lollia Paulina was the granddaughter of Marcus Lollius , who lived in 21 BC. Chr. Consul had been. Her first marriage was to Publius Memmius Regulus . Shortly after the death of his sister Drusilla in 38, Caligula forced Memmius to betroth him to his wife. According to Suetonius , he had her fetched from Moesia , where her husband was governor, because he had learned of her grandmother's earlier beauty. Six months later, he divorced her again.

When Emperor Claudius considered remarrying after Valeria Messalina's death in 48, his advisors also considered Lollia as a suitable wife. Callistus favored her because she had no children of her own who could compete with Claudius' son Britannicus . When Claudius finally decided on his niece Agrippina , she accused Lollia. She used black magic to win Claudius over. Lollia was banished and her property confiscated. While in exile, she was forced to commit suicide.
