Los Pibes Chorros

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Los Pibes Chorros are an Argentine band that have dedicated themselves to the sound of the Cumbia Villera and are therefore very successful commercially. The name means in German the stealing boys .

The band was founded in 2001 in the wake of the general cumbia-villera wave by the young folklore musician Ariel Salinas. Even the debut album quickly developed into a top chart breaker with its cheeky, sometimes sexist lyrics and an unusually cleanly produced, driving sound for this genre, in which techno and trance elements appear. In 2002 the band released the much more poppy follow-up album Solo le pido a Dios , which also became a commercial success. Despite the general decline of the music genre after 2003, Los Pibes Chorros continued to get discotheque hits; her texts became more shallow and party-oriented following the general trend of Cumbia Villera Light .
