Losament

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a losament , from the French logement (= apartment), an apartment was generally referred to until the 18th century. In the military sector in particular, Losament referred to a simple, mostly provisional accommodation made of wood , canvas or wickerwork . In the 16th to 18th centuries, Losament was a term for soldiers' quarters that were not built of stone, but which were built in a stationary manner - in contrast to tents. In student usage since the beginning of the 17th century, the simple dormitory has been referred to as a losament.
