Lost Peace

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lost Peace was a Swiss jazz rock band from Bern from the 1970s .

Lost Peace played idiosyncratic and experimental pop jazz. The band had success in Switzerland and Germany with their own compositions, some of which were elegiac pieces, which lasted over 20 minutes and had many changes in rhythm. We experimented with unusual time signatures: 4/5, 7/8, 13/8 etc. and inspired the music from jazz to classical (e.g. Boléro von Ravel).

history

Lost Peace

Lost Peace was founded in 1970 by bassist and guitarist Claudio Bischoff. Pieces from Grand Funk to Beatles' songs were played in the line-up of Claudio Bischoff (bass), Ruedy Camenzind (drums) and Jürg Lötscher (guitar). With the arrival of pianist Willy Müller in 1971, who wrote the pieces from then on, the group became more experimental. The integration of different musical styles and rhythms resulted in an idiosyncratic rock sound. In 1972 Thomas Wild replaced the resigned drummer Ruedy Camenzind. In this formation, the group won first place at the third pop festival. This was followed by appearances in Switzerland and a commission for the soundtrack of the Swiss Abroad film Invitation . In 1973 Lost Peace was expanded to include the two winds Tinu Heiniger (saxophone, clarinet) and Pudi Lehmann (trumpet, violin). The group now played more jazzy and oriented itself more towards funk: influences from Chicago, Weather Report, Miles Davis, Billy Cobham were reflected. In this formation, the Lost Peace sextet was again the winner at the Lucerne Pop Festival. A year later, the production of the first single ( Suppressed / After a Big Steak ) took place in Sinusstudio Bern. This was followed by an appearance on the German television show Talentschuppen . At the end of 1974, Jürg Lötscher left the band and was replaced by Markus Küng (guitar). Musicians of the group received soloist prizes at the Bern Jazz Festival. The French-speaking Swiss television produced the group for the program Caleidospop . Ex Dave Pike set drummer Marc Hellman replaced Thomas Wild, who had entered into a professional contract with the Wolfgang Jung Band. This made the sound more jazzy, the band now played modern, funky jazz-rock. In 1977 Lost Peace played Willy Müller (composer, keyboard, trombone), Claudio Bischoff (bass), Marc Küng (guitar), Marc Hellman (drums, percussion), Tinu Heiniger (saxophone, clarinet) and Pudi Lehmann (trumpet, Violin) in the SINUS Studio on the LP Lost Peace . The producer was the Zytglogge publishing house. Claudio Bischoff recorded a remix.
