César Cuenca (* 18 January 1981 in Tres Isletas , Chaco , Argentina ) is an Argentine professional boxer and former world champion of the IBF in the light welterweight .

Professional career

Cuenca made his professional debut in 2002. In 2005 he became the Argentine champion. Was able to defend this title several times. In 2006 he won the WBA Fedecaribe title and in 2008 against his compatriot Pablo Andres Godoy by unanimous decision the WBC Latino title over 10 rounds. On May 3, 2014, he competed against Albert Mensah in an IBF eliminator and won by unanimous decision. The following year he boxed in Macau , People's Republic of China against the Chinese Ik Yang for the vacant IBF world title and also won unanimously on points, but lost this belt in his first title defense to the Russian Eduard Walentinowitsch Trojanowski by TKo in round 6.

Until the IBF World Championship fight, Cuenca played all fights in his native Argentina .

Cuenca has a far below average clout, as indicated by its unusually low knockout rate of only 4%. Of his 48 victories so far, he was only able to win two of them by knockout, all the others he won on points.
