from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sybrand Jacobus Lodewikus "Louis" van Schoor is a South African former police officer and security guard, as well as serial killer , who committed murders between 1986 and 1989 and was subsequently convicted of seven murders and two attempted murders. However, he told a reporter that he may have shot or shot more than 100 people.

Life

Van Schoor hired himself as a security guard after serving as a policeman for the police dog unit for a while.

The series of murders

It was Van Schoor's modus operandi to react to the silent alarm in the business premises he was monitoring and to open fire on the intruders immediately with his 9 mm pistol if they were found.

Most of his victims were black men, so that the suspicion arose that his murders were racially motivated, but van Schoor denied this and explained the death of the burglars by saying that he was "just doing his job".

Conviction and imprisonment

Van Schoor was sentenced to 20 years in prison for seven murders and two attempted murders. According to a prison employee, while serving his sentence he is said to have acted like an "exemplary prisoner" and demonstrated leadership skills.

release

He was paroled after serving twelve years in prison.
