Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores ( Love's Travel for short ) is an American company headquartered in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma . Love's Travel operates gas stations in over 30 US states with affiliated retail outlets. The company employs around 25,000 people.

history

The company was founded in Watonga , Oklahoma in 1964 by Tom Love . After it was founded, the company was initially called Musket Corporation . By 1972 the company had opened more than 40 more petrol stations. After the oil crisis in the early 1970s, Tom Love transformed the locations into convenience shops with attached petrol stations. In the same year the name was changed to Love's Country Stores . In 1978 the company had around 60 locations in the states of Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. At the end of 1981, the chain's hundredth branch was opened. Also in 1981, the first motorway service facility was opened on Interstate 40 in Amarillo, Texas . In December 1986 the company was renamed Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores.

In January 2018 Love's Travel had around 490 locations in 41 states of the USA, of which around 160 are rest stops.
