Lucius Antistius Rusticus
Lucius Antistius Rusticus was a Roman politician and senator .
Rusticus came from the Baetica and was a friend of Martial , who also mentioned him several times in his epigrams (4.75; 9.30). He was inducted into the Senate during Nero's reign . From 79 to 81 Rusticus commanded the Legio VIII Augusta . Around 83/84 Rusticus became proconsul of his homeland Baetica. In the year 90 Rusticus became a suffect consul and then, in 91/92, a legate in Cappadocia-Galatia . Here Rusticus died in 93 or 94. He was married to Mummia Nigrina.
