Air layer anchor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Air-layer anchors connect the facing wall with the load-bearing wall in the case of double- layer masonry , bridging the air or insulation layer between them ( core insulation ).

At the same time, they offer the option of properly fixing any insulation using clamping washers.

Wire anchoring is common, often with a drip disk in the area of the air layer, which prevents water from running from a soaked wall along the anchor to the load-bearing wall.

Air layer anchors are more recently made from stainless steel . Variants have either an L or Z shape for insertion or they are designed as dowel anchors for subsequent installation for facing and insulating existing masonry. Up to 1972, galvanized air layer anchors were common on the market.

Information on what material, in what thicknesses and in what number the air layer anchors are to be installed were specified in DIN 1053-1: Masonry - Part 1: Calculation and execution.
