Omar Daf (born February 12, 1977 in Dakar ) is a former Senegalese football player .

Career

society

The defender began his career with US Gorée , a club from a suburb of his hometown Dakar . At the age of 17 he was discovered by the Belgian soccer scout Karel Brokken and placed with the then second division KVC Westerlo . A year later he moved to France for FC Gaillard , until he was transferred to FC Sochaux after just one season . He played at this club for twelve years until he joined Stade Brest in 2009 , where he played until 2012. Then he returned to FC Sochaux; at the end of the 2012/13 season he ended his playing career. The club made him interim coach of the league eleven in September 2013, which he led to their first win of the season on matchday eight.

National team

Daf played his first international match for the Senegalese national football team in 1999 . He was a member of the squad for the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea and was in the squad for the Africa Cup in 2000 , 2002 , 2004 , 2006 and 2012 .

By 2012 he had completed 53 international matches in which he did not score.
