Luis Romero Requena
Luís Romero Requena (born June 24, 1955 ) is a Spanish civil servant of the European Union and since 2010 Director General of the Legal Service of the European Commission .
biography
Luis Romero Requena studied business management and law from 1972 to 1977 with a master's degree. After graduating as a state finance inspector, he joined the Spanish public service in 1980 and worked for the Ministry of Finance until 1983. Until 1996 he was a consultant in various ministries and most recently for ten years at the Permanent Representation of Spain to the European Union.
He joined the EU in 1997, initially in the Environment Directorate-General , then from 1999 in the Budget Directorate-General , most recently as Director-General until 2009. Since June 2009, he has headed the Legal Service as Director-General.
