The Lumia Foundation is made in Germany for families in which a child, adolescent or young adult has suffered a severe brain injury and in a state of coma vigil is or a subsequent stage of development. Other terms are apallic syndrome, minimal state of consciousness, vegetative status, coma vigile, unresponsive wakefulness syndrome, post-resuscitation state.

Family guide

With the family guide, the foundation provides knowledge about the disease in eight themed booklets. It provides information, suggestions and examples for caring for sick children and for keeping their families healthy, explains legal requirements and gives practical tips. The guide covers a number of different topics that experience has shown concern families. It is based on a counseling practice, incorporates specialist knowledge from experts and passes on the experiences of affected families to others. The topic-related booklets offer parents the opportunity to obtain information independently and specifically according to their individual needs and current issues.
