Lupus was a Frankfurt resistance group against National Socialism .

Duration and involved

The group consisted of students from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University and, partly in the same person, officers of the Wehrmacht . It was active at the latest from the spring of 1943 until the events of July 20, 1944 . She received the name Lupus from an officer involved, a captain named Wolf. Another member known by name was an officer, First Lieutenant Adalbert Fahrenholz. The meeting point was also the Café Laumer .

July 20, 1944

When preparing the attack by Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg on Adolf Hitler , it was planned that the group, after the Walküre company had started, would overpower and disarm an SS unit in the Frankfurt district of Fechenheim with the help of two regular units of the Wehrmacht. The keyword Valkyrie did not reach the conspirators on July 20, 1944, four of the members of the group waited until 5 p.m., after which the Frankfurt city command refused to approve the implementation of the plan.

Adalbert Fahrenholz was arrested a week later and questioned by the Gestapo , also under threat of torture. However, since the group had not left any written records, there was no evidence that he was involved. He was released on July 30, 1944. Fahrenholz died in 2007.
