The Lupus Pernio (from the Latin. Lupus = wolf and pernio = frostbite), also known as Lupus Pernio Besnier called, a relatively common manifestation is the großknotigen form of sarcoidosis . It describes an extensive, livid infiltration of the nose, cheeks and ear lobes. Internal organs can also be affected.
An epithelial cellular granuloma is found histologically . Live to pea-sized changes in the skin, mostly subcutaneous, under the pressure of a glass spatula you can see the dust-like, gray infiltrate nodules. There is apple jelly-like discoloration of the skin on pressure. In small-nodular sarcoid there are papular to pea-sized or small-nodular skin changes on the face, extremities, trunk and mucous membrane.
Diagnostics: The serum ACE concentration is increased in sarcoidosis and should be determined to monitor the progress.
Therapy: high spontaneous regression. Treatment is carried out with corticosteroids , chloroquine and PUVA , among others .
