The location of the city of Luuq

Luuq (also Lūq , Luuk or Lugh Ganane ) is a city in southern Somalia with 5897 inhabitants. It is located in the Gedo region on the Jubba River , around 50 km from the - disputed - border with Ethiopia . The village is located on the constriction of a peninsula, which is formed by a loop of the Juba.

Former Somali President and dictator Siad Barre was born in Luuq / Ganane.
