The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is the largest public institution for applied research and development services in Luxembourg with over 600 employees . The institute represents an important part of the Luxembourg research landscape, which includes universities (particularly the University of Luxembourg ), the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), the Fonds National de la Recherche ( FNR), as well as the Max Planck Institute Luxemburg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law. The headquarters of the LIST is in the House of Innovation on the Belval research campus inEsch-sur-Alzette .

The LIST is a member of the European Association of Research and Technology Organizations (EARTO).

history

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology was founded on January 1st, 2015 and emerged from the merger of the research centers CRP Gabriel Lippmann and CRP Henri Tudor .

research

The research work at LIST is divided into three interdisciplinary research departments that deal in the broadest sense with environmental technologies , materials science and the digitization of companies. In cooperation with private and public companies, the institute brings new technologies and innovative solutions to market maturity , which are then economically exploited by spin-offs set up specifically for the purpose of commercialization or by industrial partners involved in the research projects.

As an independent company, LIST conducts research on behalf of the public sector with an annual budget of around 70 million euros.
