Men's palaver

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Men's Palaver is an open, two-hour event format in which men exchange views on current men's issues. It emerged in the alternative, critical men's movement in Switzerland, in which men, complementary to the women's movement , began to tackle the challenges and opportunities of their own liberation from patriarchal structures .

The event format was launched in 1994 by the theologian Christoph Walser in Zurich (then co-director of the Women & Men / Adult Education department of the Reformed Church in Zurich). The aim was to address "relevant topics in an inviting, relaxed, but nevertheless substantial way". Today Walser is considering whether a common forum for gender issues would be necessary in addition to the gender-segregated discussion forum, in line with the demand for cooperation and equality.

The event format has established itself in numerous cities in Switzerland over the years and has its own website there. The format has also established itself in numerous cities in Germany through church work for men.
