Märkische leaves
Märkische Blätter was the name of a newspaper that had been published in Hattingen since 1849 .
Master bookbinder Carl Hundt opened a bookbinding shop on the town's Obermarkt in 1837. Under the name Märkische Blätter he published a newspaper for the city of Hattingen and the neighboring communities in the surrounding area, which appeared two to three times a week. After his death, his wife Friederike Hundt continued to run the publishing and printing company, which from then on went under the name “C. Hundt sel. Wwe. " When Hattingen was appointed district town in 1885, the name was changed to Hattinger Zeitung, and it was also given the title of Official District Gazette . On January 1, 1936, the name was changed again by order of the Gauleitung - it was now called Heimat am Mittag . In 1966 it was renamed Ruhr-Anzeiger and in 1972 it became the property of the WAZ media group . Since then it has appeared with the subtitle "WAZ".
