Mills of Angla

The mill hill of Angla (Estonian Angla Tuulikumägi ) is located on the Estonian island of Saaremaa ( German  Ösel ) and is one of the landmarks of the island. There were once more than 800 mills on Saaremaa. In 1925 there were still nine mills on the Mühlenberg. Anglas Mühlenberg is the only one on Saaremaa who has more or less retained its original appearance.

Four out of five mills in Angla are typical for the island of windmills that were built in the early 19th century. In the middle is the slightly higher Dutch windmill , built in 1927 . However, the body of this mill is not made of stone, as is characteristic of a "Dutch woman", but an octagonal wooden structure. The Angla mill group was restored in 1984/1985. Today you can temporarily enter one of the mills and watch the miller's work.

Not far away are the circular meteorite craters of Kaali . The largest is 110 m in diameter, eight smaller ones are between 15 and 40 m.
