Müsâhiplik

Müsahiplik or müsahiplik ( Turkish for "Entourage," "spiritual brotherhood" ) is Alevism a covenant between two same-aged men, mostly their wives are included. In a ceremony in the presence of a dedes , the two partners declare a lifelong commitment to protect each other and to look after the needs of each other's children. The relationship between musahiplik partners is at least as strong as that between blood relatives, so that musâhiplik is often referred to as a spiritual brotherhood ( manevî kardeşlik ). The allies' children are not allowed to marry each other.

The Turkmen Tahtaci refer müsahiplik in the concept of Dört Kapı (four goals) to the "first goal" (şeriat) , which she as a precondition for the "second gate" (tarikat) look. Those who want to go through the third gate (marifet , "gnosis") must remain in a mussâhiplik relationship for at least twelve years . Entrance through the third gate dissolves the mussâhiplik relationship in a ceremony called Öz Verme Ayini ("ceremony of giving up") (which usually lasts until death).
