MDC Power is a German automotive supplier based in Kölleda, Thuringia .
MDC Power is a full subsidiary of Daimler AG and was founded in 2002 as a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi Motors . At the end of 2003, production of three and four-cylinder engines for the automobile brands Mercedes-Benz and Smart as well as Mitsubishi models began in Kölleda . In 2006, DaimlerChrysler took over Mitsubishi's shares in the former joint venture. Between the start of production in 2003 and 2020, over 9 million combustion engines were manufactured by MDC Power in Kölleda. Today the company produces four- and six-cylinder engines, which it claims are installed in almost all Mercedes-Benz passenger car and van model series. The MDC Power plant in Kölleda is responsible for the production of almost half of all Mercedes-Benz engines. A sister company of MDC Power is MDC Technology from Arnstadt . MDC Technology processes crankcases .
