The Hm 2/3 is a diesel locomotive of the Monte Generoso Railway (MG). These two locomotives were built using the chassis of their own steam locomotive H 2/3 (No. 5 + 6).

The renovation was carried out by Stabilimenti Meccanici VM SpA in Cento , whereby MG also performed its own work. The chassis were overhauled and adapted by the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Factory in Winterthur . A jackshaft was installed instead of the reversing lever of the steam drive . The driving rod and the coupling rods were retained, and the actual gear drive was also taken over by the steam locomotive. First a was Saurer - diesel engine installed in 1979 by a diesel engine of the VW was replaced. With the electrification of the line in 1982, a locomotive became superfluous and the number 2 was retired. After removing the necessary spare parts, it was scrapped, with parts of the undercarriage being used to make the H 2/3 No. 2 ready for operation. Number 1 is still operational today, but is only used for freight and service trains .
