MPEG-21

MPEG-21 is a standard for the creation, production and release of and trading in multimedia content that was defined by the Moving Picture Experts Group , or MPEG for short . It brings together all those involved in the workflow - from producers to consumers - and is intended to ensure standardized and flexible collaboration.

  • Standardization of all components
  • Efficient and automated interoperability between different multimedia service providers
  • Integration of existing but complex technologies into an overall system (e.g. digital rights management )
  • Creation of a system and platform independent environment for the exchange and use of media content
