MTCOS

MTCOS stands for “ M ask T ech C hip O perating S ystem”. It is the most frequently used chip card operating system for use in passports . MTCOS is based on ISO 7816 and offers an application- independent security architecture according to the current ICAO and BSI encryption and transmission standards AA , BAC , EAC , PA and SAC / PACE .

Applications

On chip cards, MTCOS now forms the basis for a wide variety of chip applications that require secure personal identification,

  • especially for Government ID, but also for
  • Health insurance cards,
  • Access controls and
  • public transportation.
