MUSIC algorithm

The MUSIC algorithm ( multiple signal classification ) is an estimation algorithm for digital signal processing . It makes it possible to determine the frequency and the direction of reception from a mixture of several noisy signals. The procedure was first published in 1979 by Ralph Otto Schmidt (* 1938) and later expanded by him into his dissertation .

The MUSIC algorithm is one of the most common algorithms used today to determine the angle of an incoming signal. This means that MUSIC and its variants are used in determining the position of e.g. B. WLAN devices such as smartphones or notebooks. The receiving antennas must be arranged in a uniform linear array or at least on a uniform grid for the possibility of using MUSIC.
