Mxg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mxg or MXG is software that runs on mainframe or host computers and reads, analyzes and processes system logs (SMF records). The data is system information (log data, CPU load, access to databases, etc.). Mxg was implemented using the Base SAS statistics software .

The abbreviation MXG is from the book " M Errill's e X panded G uide for Computer Performance Evaluation Using the SAS System". Written by HW Barry Merrill in 1984, Dallas - Texas, published by SAS Institute, it was an extension of the 1980 book "Merrill's Guide To Computer Performance Evaluation Using the SAS System". The original had 395 pages, the extension had 867 pages. In 1997 the book was supplemented by the "MXG Supplement". Since 1991 Merrill Consultants took over the sales of MXG. Right from the start, MXG consisted largely of a collection of SAS programs. Over the years, the addition of "MXG Supplements" to the physical book has been discontinued, the software including documentation is only available as a download.

Merrill Consultants is led by Judith S. Merrill, Vice-President-Partner and HW Barry Merrill, President-Programmer.
