MX Zabel Racing

MX Zabel Racing is a German racing engine manufacturer based in Wiesenburg in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg .

history

Zabel has been developing, building and supplying two-stroke and four-stroke special engines and engine parts for motorcycle racing since 1960. Zabel-Motoren won the Sidecarcross World Championship for the first time in 1998 with driver Kristers Sergis from Latvia and then in 1999, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 with other teams and in 2012 with driver Daniel Willemsen from the Netherlands.

At the international sidecar motocross championships , Zabel achieved 4,410 points in the FIM manufacturers' ranking in 2013, ahead of KTM with 1,603 points and Jawa with 117 points.

From 1990 to 1996 Zabel first produced engines according to the FIM regulations with 620 and 685 cubic centimeters and from 1999 the new 700 cc version with hydraulic clutch and four-speed gearbox. Since then, this engine has seen continuous further developments. The newest engines have the designation ZM29; It is a liquid-cooled single-cylinder two-stroke engine with inlet directly into the crankcase via double diaphragms with 16 reeds and Bing carburettor of type 55 / 44-205, analog double ignition, four-speed gearbox with hydraulic clutch. Stroke / bore: 89/100 mm with 699 cm³ displacement.
