Mašḫuitta
Mašḫuitta (alternative reading: Parḫuitta) was a king in western Asia Minor, possibly the last king of Mira known from Hittite sources .
Mašḫuitta is mentioned in a fragmentary letter ( KBO 18.18, CTH 186.4) from a Hittite great king, perhaps Šuppiluliuma II , which, however, “can only roughly be dated to the last half of the 13th century due to its poor state of preservation”. addressed with the title "Great King" without the country's name being preserved. Since the content refers to Western Anatolia , in Frank Starke's opinion, only the country Mira comes into question. Accordingly, this country was able to break away from the Hittite king as a former vassal and subjugate other areas. On the other hand, the ancient orientalist Gerd Steiner suspects that Mašḫuitta was a king of Aḫḫijawa , which he - contrary to the strongly prevailing opinion - considers to be an Anatolian empire in south-west Asia Minor, and that the letter came from the Hittite great king Ḫattušili III. (approx. 1266–1236 BC), who is also considered to be the likely author of the Tawagalawa letter , in which the ruler of Aḫḫijawa is also addressed as the "great king".
