Machländer Volksbote

The Machländer Volksbote , also Machländer Volks-Bote, was a private Catholic weekly newspaper founded by Leopold Kordesch in 1895 , which was produced in his printing works in Perg . In 1929 the newspaper was merged with the Linzer Wochenblatt of the Press Association.

After Kordesch's death, his widow initially continued the business and sold it at the end of 1895 to Bernhard Blaschök, who ran the printing company and newspaper until his death in 1928. The main editors were the cooperators of the Perg parish, who mainly represented the Christian-social world view of Vienna's mayor Karl Lueger . The editorial was also called Catholic-Conservative. There were connections to the Catholic People's Party (later the Christian Social Party ). The maximum circulation of the independent organ for the lower Mühlkreis was 1,100 copies.

The first edition of the weekly paper appeared on January 1st, 1895 (1/1895), the last independent edition on July 26th, 1929 (No. 35/1929). In 1895 and 1896 the newspaper had the format 4 ° and then 2 °. From the 3rd edition in 1897 the addition of a Catholic weekly newspaper was used for the lower Mühlkreis and from the 19th edition in 1913 the addition of a Catholic weekly newspaper with richly illustrated entertainment supplement for the lower Mühlkreis .

The newspaper appeared in numerous articles for the construction of the Machlandbahn as well as for the construction of the Naarntalstrasse .

The Machländer Volksbote continued to appear for a few years as a supplement to the Linzer Wochenblatt and the Linzer Volksblatt after it was sold to the Linzer Preßverein.
