Majdal Shams ( English Majdal Shams ; arabic مجدل شمس.; Hebrew מַגְ'דַל שַׁמְס) is a Druze- inhabited village at the foot of the Hermon and part of the Golan Heights , which were occupied by Israel in 1967 and annexed in 1981 , but still belong to Syria from the perspective of the international community .

Madschdal Schams is right on the border with Syria

About 20,000 Druze live in the Golan Heights, spread over four villages, of which Madschdal Shams is the largest with about 10,000 Druze. The residents of Majdal Shams refer to themselves as Syrians; only a few have acquired Israeli citizenship.
