Mafinga is a medium-sized town in the region Iringa in Tanzania .

Mafinga has 51,902 inhabitants (as of 2012) and is the capital of the Mufindi district . It lies 1,862 meters above sea level in the southern highlands of Tanzania . There are several small lakes in the Mafinga region, including Lake Ngwazi.
Mafinga and the surrounding Mufindi highlands are characterized by a mild climate due to their altitude . The annual average temperature is 17 ° C and varies only slightly over the year.
