Mafinga is a medium-sized town in the region Iringa in Tanzania .

geography

Mafinga has 51,902 inhabitants (as of 2012) and is the capital of the Mufindi district . It lies 1,862 meters above sea level in the southern highlands of Tanzania . There are several small lakes in the Mafinga region, including Lake Ngwazi.

Mafinga and the surrounding Mufindi highlands are characterized by a mild climate due to their altitude . The annual average temperature is 17 ° C and varies only slightly over the year. During the dry season between May and November, hardly any precipitation is recorded. On the other hand, in the 'small rainy season' between December and February and the 'big rainy season', heavy rains can occur afterwards, which become more and more prolonged over time and amount to over 200 mm in March.
