Magar-Chepang languages
The Magar-Chepang languages form a sub-unit of the Mahakiranti languages , which belong to the Tibetan Burman languages , a primary branch of Sinotibetic . The five Magar-Chepang languages are spoken by around 700,000 people in central Nepal . The largest single language is Magar with 600,000 speakers. The Magar-Chepang is divided into the two sub-branches Magar-Kham and Chepang . The closer relationship between these branches is now generally recognized. Within the Mahakiranti, the Magar-Chepang is related to the Newari-Thangmi and the Kiranti .
