Magic Disk 64 - The C64 magazine on floppy disk was a floppy disk magazine for the Commodore 64 publishedfrom 1987 to 1993 by CP Computer Publications GmbH.
In addition to Game On , Magic Disk 64 was the best-known monthly German-language C64 disk mag. The 5 1 ⁄ 4 inch floppy disk was equipped with a menu (from the end of 1989 with background music) from which the individual programs could be viewed and started. The actual magazine was also on the floppy disk and had to be started on a C64 in order to be able to read the contents. It mainly consisted of programming courses and letters to the editor. The first editions also included game tests. Programs, programming tools, and games were published on the second side of the disk. The Magic Disk 64 was available from newsagents, kiosks and by subscription at a price of DM 9.80 .
From the beginning of November 1987, the Magic Disk 64 appeared on a monthly basis. At the end of 1989 a new menu system was introduced, which was graphically more complex and with music. From issue 12/93 the Magic Disk 64 lost its independence and was sold together with Game On as a diskette supplement to the Amiga and PC game magazine Play Time . With the 7/95 edition, the Magic Disk 64 and Game On were discontinued. Then a magazine called Magic Disk Classic appeared , which, unlike Magic Disk 64, was a printed magazine with a diskette insert. There were only a few issues of the Magic Disk Classic (8/95 to 1/96), after which it went into the magazine 64'er .
