Magic Lantern (software)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At Magic Lantern ( Engl. Wunderlampe) is an American US by the Federal Police FBI developed spy software . In contrast to the FBI's network sniffer , called Carnivore (in German: meat eater), it is sent to the victim to be spied on and secretly installs itself on his or her computer system.

It was rumored that antivirus manufacturers such as McAfee or Symantec wanted their antivirus products to prevent this keylogging software from being discovered due to a deal with the FBI. But they denied this soon afterwards.
