Magicplan is a mobile application for creating digital floor plans. For this, the application uses the computer-based augmented reality (Engl. Augmented Reality ). With over 18 million downloads, it is one of the most widely used augmented reality apps worldwide.

history

Magicplan was developed in 2011 by Sensopia in Montreal , Canada . In 2016, Sensopia merged with B&O and has since been based in a Munich and a Montreal office. Magicplan was named to Apple's 2017 Best Apps List in 2017.

function

Using the camera of a tablet or smartphone, a user can capture the corners of a room. The app then automatically creates a floor plan. The two-dimensional floor plans can be converted into 3D models. Further information (e.g. photos or comments) can be added to the created floor plan. The app also automatically creates cost and material calculations based on the floor plan data recorded.

The latest iOS version of the app, magicplan 8, combines augmented reality and artificial intelligence to automatically detect windows and doors and store them in the floor plan.
