Maid of the Mist Incline or Clifton Incline was a funicular railway in the city of Niagara Falls , Ontario , Canada . It was built for the participants of the Maid of the Mist boat tour and connected Clifton Hill to the boat dock below.

The funicular was built in 1894 as the Clifton Incline and initially had two small twelve-seater cars. It was 50 m long, had a track width of 1850 mm and was electrically powered. The track splits in the middle between the mountain station and the valley station so that the cars can pass each other. In 1973 the funicular was renamed the Maid of the Mist Incline without making any changes to the operating concept or capacity.

The increasing size of the boats on the Maid of the Mist Tour demanded more capacity and so the funicular was rebuilt between 1976 and 1977. When it reopened, 24-seater cars were used, covering the route in 45 seconds. But even these could not handle the traffic. The funicular was therefore decommissioned in 1990 and replaced by four inclined elevators . The rails have been overgrown since 1990, but like the coaches from 1977 are still in place.
